The Messenger app, WhatsApp has revamped it’s ‘status’ framework again after it recently rolled out it’s new status feature. Now the user profile will be updated with the old status feature too, which will run in tandem with the new Status feature.
This feature is now called “About and phone number” and users can access it under their profile tab.
If you are an iOS user, this feature has not yet rolled out at your service. This feature has only been updated in Android for now. The app version that includes this new feature is WhatsApp 2.17.111.
Whatsapp users were getting highly diverted to a trending, Snapchat app, an app which lets you share videos and shots and share it with friends. Reports suggest that Whatsapp launched this new feature to pose a strong competition to the trending app.
The new ‘STATUS’ feature which was recently rolled out, facilitated the users to update their whatsapp window with short video and pictures.
Unlike the video feature of the new Whatsapp update, the status feature does not restrict the time for which it will be visible. Whatsapp also facilitates it’s users to choose who can see it’s status. It offers three options: Everyone, Only contacts and Custom.
As the Whatsapp users were highly habitual to setting their statuses, there was much resistance to shift to the newer version with no text status.
In order to be able to see your text status back, your Android smartphone will have to be upgraded via the Google Play Store.
After the app has been upgraded, the user may click on three dots which appear on the top and can enjoy the restored status feature. The iOS users might have to wait a little longer to get back and enjoy the old status feature.
While Whatsapp has been in a bid to upgrade it’s system time and again, we are curious as to what next in store for all Whatsapp users.
