The world today celebrates the second International Yoga Day. Yoga is an invaluable gift of our ancient traditions. Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, “It embodies unity of mind and body; thought and action; restraint and fulfilment; harmony between man and nature; a holistic approach to health and well-being. It is not about exercise but to discover the sense of oneness with yourself, the world and the nature. By changing our lifestyle and creating consciousness, it can help in well being.” In India, International Yoga Day 2016 is being celebrated with high enthusiasm and zeal. In the state of Rajasthan, Vasundhara Raje participates in Yoga Celebrations, the state’s main event conducted at the Sawai Man Singh Stadium in the capital city of Jaipur. Her cabinet colleagues accompanied her along with thousands of residents who reached the venue to celebrate the yoga day.
CM Raje attended the morning yoga session from 06:40 am to 07:40 am which was guided by chief instructor Kulbhushan Bairathi of the Patanjali Yogapeeth. She also administered the oath of health, discipline and fitness in life to more than 25,000 people cutting across all religions after the yoga session. Raje’s cabinet colleagues Kiran Maheshwari, Rajendra Rathore, K C Saraf, Jaipur MP Ram Charan Bohara, Rajya Sabha member and BJP national vice president Om Mathur, State BJP President Ashok Parnami and Union Minister Uma Bharti joined her for the morning yoga sessions on the occasion.

“Congress is not against Yoga. Yoga was also politicised by Narendra Modi government and the spirit of Father’s Day was lowered down,” Congress spokesperson Archna Sharma said when asked why Rajasthan Pradesh Congress Committee did not celebrate the International Yoga Day 2016 at any of its offices in the districts of Rajasthan. “Lots of government money and resources were used by the BJP governments for just one hour of exercise which was ancient and used to be practised by people in the country on their own…What’s new in it except for BJP propaganda,” she added.
“Enthusiasm this year was more than the previous year. We made arrangements for over 30,000 people for the yoga day celebrations at SMS Stadium,” a senior official said.
On the occasion of the International Yoga Day 2016, after the CM completed the morning yoga session, said, “yoga is a priceless cure to live a healthy life”. Yoga has been an integral part of the Indian culture. Due to the efforts made by India the United Nations has declared June 21 as the International Day of Yoga. Now people around the world are practising Yoga for healthy living.”
