Times When Chandra Shekhar Azad Guided Your Patriotism!

“Muchon per taav, kamar me pistol, kandhe per janeu aur sher si shaksiyat”

Such was the personality of famous Chandra Shekhar Azad. Everyone called him by the name Azad, so it was not surprising to weigh his valor as a freedom fighter. A person who has ‘azad’ which means free, in his name, definitely must have had a strong personality denoting his will to stay free come what may.

    “Azad hi rahein hain, Azad hi raehnge”

A person who mentored great Bhagat Singh should be remembered for more reasons than just as an Indian Revolutionary. His fierce patriotism and courage inspired others of his generation to enter freedom struggle. Today on his 85th death anniversary let us see in what different ways did Chandra Shekhar Azad energized and inspired our patriotic streak.

Azad’s belief in socialism during his war to achieve an independent India is a proof from where the socialist era surrounds the country presently. His aggression and unbending power made it clear that he wouldn’t have given up on himself, his people and his country. The British tried incessantly to curb this fighter’s spirit but he was undefeatable.

   “Dushman ki goliyon ka hum saamna karenge”

During one of his arrests by the British Commanders, Azad faced 15 continuous lashes for his adamant and firm attitude. He didn’t give up then and kept on shouting “Bharat Mata Ki Jai”. This shows us how tough he was as a person and knowing about him lightens patriotism in the present generation. We all remember what he once said.

“If your blood does not rage, then it is water that flows in your veins.

For what is the flush of the youth, if it is not of service.”

The urgency in Azad’s persona to overcome the slavery country was suffering then, was so outward. Wherever he went, he maintained an inspiring and enthusiastic behavior throughout. The three simple rules he wanted his people to know were;

                      “If you do not go after what you want, you will never get it.”

                              “If you don’t ask, the answer will always be no.”

                  “If you do not step forward, you’ll always be in the same place.”

Patriotism is not just about fighting for your country; it has more connotations in the present scenario. The zeal to keep trying to make the country a better place to live in, a confidence in ourselves and our country, and the responsibility to be a nationalist while exerting a positive energy is what one should do. Always learn from your mistakes and strive harder the next time and never stop being a learner is what we can seek from Chandra Shekhar Azad when he mentioned;

                                     “If you’re not failing every now and again, it’s a sign you’re not doing                                                                                                anything very innovative.”

Hope we imbibe something from Azad’s patriotic stance he put forward for us to learn. Let us then not back down when it comes to sport patriotism whenever required.
