This Jaipur Girl fought against all odds and is now providing Home to fellow artists to follow their dreams

Everyone has a story of his own and each story is unique in its own ways. While some are some love or success stories, a few of them are truly inspirational ones which strengthen our faith in humanity and ethics. This story is one of them with a girl in the center having some dreams and aspirations which distinguished her from rest of the world. She was an aspiring artist when she left her home with her younger brother with empty pockets and eyes full of dreams. She had absolutely nothing except her honor, pride, and obstinacy to do something in life. She was determined to follow her dreams and make a difference. Now, it’s over a year and she has managed to live her dreams and also helping others in living theirs too.

The name of this brave girl is Nimisha Verma and she was only 19 years old when she left her house to follow her passion. The reason being her parents didn’t approve of the career she chose for herself. Unaffected by this, she went ahead with her goals on her own.

She is an artist and is now the founder of a one of its kind unique initiative, Home for Artists, which is a home for wandering souls, like her, who desires to become artists and make it a career choice.

In an interview, she said, “When I left my parents house to follow my dreams last year with my brother Sudhanshu, we struggled a lot. For four days we wandered in search of a roof over our head and a stable place to sleep at night. Those four days I can never forget in my entire life. I promised myself I’ll create a place which any artist with hope could call a home. Now, I have a home for all the artists so they aren’t afraid of nowhere to be when they wish to escape and make art.”

This is how her home became “Home for Artists”. It is a Non-Profit Organization and a shelter for artists who have left their home and everything behind to pursue their passion. All the artists there live together, help each other and have a little fun along the way. Meanwhile, they focus on their creative progress.

“We meditate in the morning, then cook, draw, write and sleep together. There are some nights when we don’t sleep at all and keep reading books or discuss some artworks and poetry. Every day we welcome new artists and travelers to stay with us who share their story and experiences,” added Nimisha.

They have their own set of rules for the house:

The permanent residents of the house pay rent whereas, the other artists who stay for a day or two are not asked to pay anything. Nimisha and her whole group have worked really hard to achieve this level and start this initiative. She explained, “For me, art is pure courage. You gather all your courage and decide to put your emotions of pain and happiness into one thing. It might be writing, a painting or song. And then that one thing speaks your emotions for you.”

But Nimisha is not satisfied with this, she aims for a bigger dream. She wants to expand the reach of this NPO into other cities as well and make this community even bigger.

“Someday, I’ll create a university where they won’t come for a degree but to live art with similar creative souls and away from this bounded education system. They will learn, teach and stay at the same place surrounded by nature and peaceful environment,” she elaborated in a determined way.

Her undying spirit is a source of inspiration for a lot of people. Fighting the odds and nurturing a community of her fellow artists is something worth appreciating. She is the role model of many as she set her foot on a path where every day she will be breaking the stereotypes and follow her dreams.
