There are some who genuinely cast their vote but many people especially the youth sit back and relax on the voting day. The importance of voting is almost lost in the hustle and bustle of the city life. Everyone just sits and complain about the government, makes suggestions that the government should change this and that. The elections come and go without half the population paying attention to it.
It is the fault of both the leaders and the people. It is our duty to choose what drives our country forward. More attention should be paid to the upliftment of the poor, helping the aged, education, water, preserving the environment, agriculture, roads, planned urban development etc.
Thus our vote plays an important part in the making of a developed economy. Thus if the country is stuck with a bad government, it’s the people who are to be blamed for not voting at all.
To spread the awareness the government has launched a voter registration drive. This drive is a part of the Election Commissions “Voter Registration Reminder” campaign to encourage eligible voters to register themselves with the election commission.
Facebook for the first time collaborated with the EC to make this initiative a success. From 1 st July Facebook has started running a voter registration reminder in a number of Indian languages to all the Facebook users in India.
This step aims toward the fulfillment of the motto “NO VOTER TO BE LEFT BEHIND”. The election commission in association with the Facebook has designed a “REGISTER NOW” button that redirects the users on the NATIONAL VOTERS SERVICES portal. This portal provides guidance of the registration process.
However, this campaign will end today.
So what are you waiting for? It’s our right to vote.
It’s an urge to all the eligible citizens to enroll and vote and sincerely perform their duty towards the country.
