Born on 23 March 1910 at Akbarpur India, Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia was one of India’s greatest freedom fighters. He was an Indian politician and a prominent figure in socialist politics. His efforts and contribution for Indian independence are unforgettable. He was also the one who involved the country’s youth in the freedom movement. He had also made the youth of the country to gain knowledge on several topics like poetry, arts, aesthetics and literature. He was died on October 12, 1967 in New Delhi.
He was born to a family of merchants. His father was also committed to Indian nationalism. He was highly influenced by his father. Dr. Lohia had gained education from Banaras Hindu University, University of Calcutta and University of Berlin.
He was amongst the founders of Congress Socialist Party. Lohia worked as a member of the executive committee and also edited the weekly journal. During Gandhi’s call of Quit India Movement, Lohia and his fellow CSP members supported the movement from the underground. After Independence, Lohia founded an organisation called Hind Kisan Panchayat to help farmers with agricultural solutions.
Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia was the man of substance who had stirred the nation with his ideas and eloquence. He had raised his voice against several evil practices like the abolition of the caste system, the adoption of Hindi as India’s national language, and stronger protection of civil liberties.
