Demonetisation: Plummeting ATM queues do not manifest – ACHE DIN !!

Demonetisation Long Queue on ATM

Ever since the Demonetization news was aired , Irked cum baffled Indians have been spotted queuing up at the banks. Two weekends post  the onset of Demonetisation in India , people say it’s still difficult to withdraw money.  The consistent cash crunch observed after the 8th of November has made all Indians (atleast the common man ) infuriated.

Out of 10 people ,5 people are irked and are gravely complaining about the recent move by the Hon’ble Prime Minister. Nevertheless, 5 people are happy with the move and reinstate that Demonetisation is developmental  for the betterment of India . So clearly this scheme has received just about half supporters and half are still sceptical about the outcome of the demonetisation .

There has been serpentine -like ATM queues since the 10th of November when the ATM’s opened up for withdrawal after recalibration. But quite recently , shorter queues were seen outside the ATM’s which was a relief to see , apparently though. The shorter ATM queues are on account of firstly , frequent ATM machine breakdown . Secondly , the major crowd is of office –goers who cannot stand in queues on weekdays . “This decision has hit our business badly. Generally in the months of November and December, the markets are vibrant. But this move has completely stifled our business,” said Viren Shah, president of the Federation of Retail Traders Welfare Association (FRTWA).

It is likely that the banks were closed to avoid the brunt of cash crunch in the economy . To add to this , the un-operational  ATM ‘s aggravated the rage of Indians substantially. A Bank manager said, “We are not allowing exchange till 2:30 pm. But customers can come and withdraw money from their accounts within the limit which is why there are no queues outside and exchange would happen only for a short period- from 2:30 pm till the close of banking hours.“
