A report that show numbers which are horrifying to see the increased number of diabetic patients in the country. Yes, according to the PGI doctors, around 40,000 diabetic patients lose their limbs in India every year. Well, with this huge number of diabetic patients in the country it is quite evident that people are going with bad health and bad food habits.

The Department of Endocrinology, PGI, will organize the 13th Annual National Diabetic Foot Congress from November 20 – 22. The organizers say that the conference is an attempt to spread awareness about the disease. “Diabetologists, endocrinologists, vascular surgeons, orthopedicians and plastic surgeons from both India and abroad will attend the conference,” added the statement.

A PGI statement issued here read, “The prevalence of diabetic foot in India varies from 10-15 per cent. While the study conducted by PGI in 2009, shows that the diabetic foot disease in 1.044 people cam out to be just 8 percent.”

It also came into account that the survival rate of diabetic patients gives a diabolic fight to other diseases even cancer. It was said that the survival rate of patients with diabetic foot was less than that of breast cancer, prostate cancer or lymphoma patient.

With the increase in number the concerns are turning over controlling diabetes and curbing this disease with force.
