Bharat Yatra: Amitabh Bachchan Joins Kailash Satyarthi’s Fight Against Child Abuse

The Bollywood superstar came forward to support Bharat Yatra- an initiative to fight child trafficking and sex abuse in India which was started by Nobel laureate Kailash Satyarthi.  

Sr. Bachchan Comes In Support

Sr. Bachchan takes initiative to create a safe environment for our children and urges citizens to come forward to support children across India. The actor appeals to the public to take a closer look at things happening in society and not to dismiss them, but break the pervasive silence that is ingrained in us.

The actor has supported the cause and asked people to join the movement via a video posted on Social Media.The campaign hashtag #Bachchan4Bachpan soon started trending on social media.

“Millions of children are victims of sex abuse. They are kidnapped, sold. These children are our future. We need to free our future from the shackles of the black age of exploitation. Kailash Satyarthiji has waged a war against child sex abuse. Please join the movement. We need to fulfill our responsibilities, give our children freedom from fear, from exploitation,” the actor says in the video.

The Bharat Yatra

Nobel Peace Laureate, Kailash Satyarthi launched his 35-day Bharat Yatra, from the Vivekananda Rock Memorial, Kanniyakumari on the 11th of September.

The activist who has been fighting the use of child labour and other forms of exploitation of children for the past 36 years. He founded the Bachpan Bachao Andolan (Save Childhood Movement) in 1980 and he was awarded with the Nobel Peace Prize in 2014 for his continuous efforts and struggle for the rights of children.

The Bharat Yatra also received support through ‘Google Maps’ which has marked the Bharat Yatra route urging users to join the campaign.
