How far do you believe in hurting someone (a plant, an animal, a living being) for your survival? There are times when you might not know but are unintentionally hurting a lot of pants and animals, without which your survival can be possible. Let us first understand the term Vegan and Veganism. Veganism is somewhat similar to being a vegetarian except the fact that unlike vegetarians, vegans don’t even consider eating any animal products including cow milk, dairy products, cheese, ice-creams etc. Now you might be thinking if people who are totally vegan and have accepted Veganism at all healthy? The surprising answer to this question is YES. Veganism is healthier than any other forms of eating. Vegetables, fruits, whole grains, beans and seeds etc are all vegan staples that make your body happy. They provide all sorts of required vitamins, minerals, nutrients and yes even proteins.  Plants are actually good for you. Oxford University study has proved that vegans and vegetarians comparatively have lower risk of high cholesterol and heart diseases.

Before we move any further, let us first tell you 5 veganism facts that you might have never heard before:

  1. Humanity may have evolved due to its non-vegan diet, while a vegan diet may be healthy. Humanity owes a gratitude to their carnivorous ancestors. Two independent studies have suggested that even cooked food including meat have helped our ancestors grow brain over billions of years, into brain that humans have today. While it is possible for vegans to live healthy today, we would not have evolved as smart as we are today without what our ancestors have done.
  2. Around 30% population of the world are vegetarians and around 6% in US are vegans. A large majority of the people who do not eat meat are women. There is no surprise that vegans come in the minority when it comes to dieting.

  3. A vegan diet sees more results in weight loss attempts. While losing weight can be long process, researchers suggest that going vegan is the most prosperous root to take.

  4. A vegan diet though may lead to higher risk of heart diseases. While veganism may be good for your weight, it is not necessary that it is good for your heart. But then, there are many other researches which contradict this and have proved that veganism can reduce heart diseases up to 10% in 10 years.

  5. A majority of people who opt veganism or attempt a vegan diet generally ends up quitting it. Well, a lot of people might attempt veganism due to respect for animals, or also for the wrong personal health reasons, later many end up abandoning this practise.
