Water Tanker Scam: ACB probe Delhi Ex-CM Sheila Dikshit

The Water Tank Scam of Delhi is in highlights again when the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has summoned Ex-Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit for her alleged role in it. ACB Chief M K Meena said that “We have issued a notice to Sheila Dikshitji for questioning on 26th August in connection with water tanker scam case.”

Meena said that they have received an enquiry report from the now Delhi Government about the water tanker distribution management system indicating Dikshit, adding that a case has been registered accordingly. “In their report, they said that the scam is to the tune of Rs. 400 crores. And accordingly, a case was registered with the ACB post which we called Kapil Mishra Ji. And we are also inquiring about the same from those, who had submitted the enquiry report,” Meena told the media. As per Meena Ji, they have also issued notices to the officers of Delhi Jal Board. The involvement of Dikshit Ji will only be concluded after questioning her on 26th August.

Whereas Sheila Dikshit denied the receipt of any such notice from ACB rather she stated that “Once I receive information, I will definitely abide by it. I had received a letter from ACB saying I’ll be summoned in August. But I haven’t received any information on a specific date as yet.”

It is to be noted that Sheila Dikshit was the chairperson of Delhi Jal Board when the alleged scam took place. Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had last month demanded registration of a case against the previous Government for causing the state exchequer loss of approximately Rs. 400 crores. Addressing the Delhi Assembly, Kejriwal said: “Now that we have submitted a report on the scam to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Lt Governor Najeeb Jung, the former should ensure that Sheila Dikshit is sent to jail within two months.”
